Brew City Blooms Collection x Little Fire Ceramics

A couple years ago I started to notice a trend with the antique vases and vessels I was sourcing from old antique shops and Etsy. All of my vessels shared a similar fluting and shape. The diameter to height ratio was something that was nearly identical across my favorite pieces. While I still adore my antique pieces, I was having difficulty sourcing pairs or larger quantities of vases in the shape I love. Even when I could source pairs, they were often expensive to ship from Europe or across the country. I ran into a similar issue when looking for new handmade vessels. It was then that I started searching for a local artist to collaborate with.

I have had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with Jessica of Little Fire Ceramics over the past few months. Jessica’s studio is located in Bay View, Wisconsin, just a 20 minute drive from the flower farm. Together we have worked to create the perfect low profile vase in the size and shape I love, this time with a contemporary twist. The first prototype is pictured here!

The vase was designed to have a multitude of uses. If you aren’t someone who has flowers on the mind at all times, you can also use the vessel for your morning cup of joe or espresso! That said, their indented use is for flowers with a pin frog (AKA flower frog). A pin frog is comprised of a flat metal base, usually round, topped with a series of pins. The pin frog is adhered to the bottom of the vase with putty. These pins keep the stems secure as you place and arrange each flower in the vase.

The vase allows for numerous styles of arrangements ranging from minimal and sleek designs with only a handful of stems, to more complex Dutch style arrangements overflowing with blooms. The vases were designed to have a low profile, meaning that if used at a dinner table you would still be able to hold a conversation with your guests without an arrangement blocking their sweet faces!

The first offering of vases will be available for purchase exclusively at my local pop-up flower shops in summer 2024. The vases will come in two separate glazes, butter (pictured here) and blush. There is a possibility for remaining stock and re-stocks to become available to purchase through my online shop in the future!
